![]() To calculate your download speed, the Google Home app measures how much data your router or primary Wifi point can send and receive from Google’s servers in a given amount of time. The model or version of the device also affects speed. Some devices like mobile phones won’t have speeds as fast as computers.Your download speed is determined by the plan you have purchased from your Internet Service Provider (ISP.) Some plans are limited to 10 Mbps, while others can go all the way up to 1000 Mbps.For example, fast download speeds mean smooth video streaming, smooth online gaming, and fast web browsing. This is what we usually think of when we hear “internet speed.” If you have a faster connection, you'll be able to receive more data in a shorter amount of time. The app should find your Google Wifi device.On your phone or tablet, open the Home app.The pulsing blue light indicates it's ready to be set up in the Home app. Wait 90 seconds for the light to slowly pulse blue.Plug your primary Wifi point into a wall outlet.Then, connect the other end of the cable to your modem. Connect the Ethernet cable to your Google Wifi point's WAN port.Learn more about where to place your Google Wifi devices.For the strongest signal, place your primary Wifi point at eye level, in plain view, like on a shelf or TV stand.Your primary Wifi point needs to be connected to a working modem that's connected to the Internet.You can use any Google Wifi point as a primary Wifi point.Choose a location for your primary Wifi point.If this is your first time using the Google Home app, set up a home.Download the Google Home app for Android or iOS.Set up your primary Google Wifi pointīefore you set up your first Google Wifi point, referred to as "primary Wifi point" or "Wifi router," make sure your modem works and is connected to the internet. Since wireless regulations vary by country, you might experience compatibility issues if you move your Wifi device(s) to a different country and Google will be unable to offer support.
